THE STUDIO & SUPPORT SPACES

Never! The Lab is a single-production facility, meaning you will never share any space with anyone else. When you book with us, you get exclusive access to our 3,800 SF soundstage and 1,650 SF of support spaces. Spread out and get comfy!

We specialize in hosting commercial and corporate productions, music videos, digital content, photo shoots, and events. We’ve also hosted press days, live streams, and third-unit shoots. The sky’s the limit! Take a look at our Instagram to view some past projects.

View all of our support spaces here! The Lab has TONS of support spaces to make your clients, talent, crew and most importantly yourself, feel right at home. Some highlights are our large kitchen/lounge, hair and makeup room and comfy green room/workspace. This ain’t no dusty warehouse studio! 

Yes, The Lab was purpose-built as a soundstage and our studio is acoustically treated. it’s basically as quiet as outer space, but with better acoustics. 

We sure do! The Lab is a one-of-a-kind Toronto event venue perfect for influencer engagement, workshops and panels, live streaming, trade shows and, of course, corporate events! Check out our corporate events page.

ON-SITE EQUIPMENT RENTALS

The Lab has nearly everything you need for a motion shoot or to light a stills set. You can choose from our All-Inclusive Motion EQ Package or All-Inclusive Stills EQ Package (each package avail at $1,500/Day), Studio Space Lighting Package ($600/Day), or build your own EQ list! Yup! Just give us your list, and we’ll get you a quote! We coordinate delivery and pickup, so all your gear will be here when you arrive to load in.

For sure! But if you’re ever in a bind and need some more gear, you can add on equipment at any time (even after you arrive!).

Nuh-uh! All of our equipment remains on-site and available exclusively to productions at The Lab.

Check out our rate card. You can book out our entire facility at only $2,250/Production Shoot Day and $3,000/Event Day. We cut through the BS and keep our rates fair by excluding hidden fees. 

In short, a lot! All bookings include our 3,800 SF soundstage and 1,650 SF of support spaces (large kitchen, green room, hair and makeup room, fitting rooms with ensuites and more)! We offer inclusive power & distro, free on-site parking, WIFI, a SkyJack Scissor Lift and (you guessed it) more! You can even choose to add our All-Inclusive Gear Package at just $1,750/Day or a fresh custom paint job.

On top of all that, a member of our team will always be on-site during your shoot to answer any questions and help your production run smoothly. 

Cancellations* made at least 10 business days before the start of your booking: $100 charge

Less than 10 business days’ notice: 50% charge of the total studio & equipment rental booking fee

Less than 72 hours’ notice: 100% charge of the total studio and equipment rental booking fee

*The official cancellation policy noted in your booking agreement is final

You or your production must hold valid insurance* at all times during your reserved time at The Lab.  

Requirements:

  • AstroLab must be named an “Additional Insured” on your policy
  • Your policy must provide a minimum of $1,000,000 Liability Coverage (for all bookings);
  • For bookings which have an AstroLab equipment package included: $25,000 in Equipment Replacement Value Coverage

*Insurance policy requirements noted in your booking agreement are final

LOCATION

The Lab is conveniently located on the Revival Lot at 629 Eastern Avenue (parallel to Queen St. East) in Toronto– just 10 minutes from downtown. Easily reach us by walk, bike, drive, bus, streetcar or rocket ship!

View our lot map here. You can enter through the east doors (where the Enterprise Car Rental sign is). To load in, you can use our freight elevator that opens right into the studio! Detailed instructions will also be emailed to you upon booking.

Oh yeah! View our lot map here. We have tons of free on-site parking for vehicles and even a handy bike rack at our entrance. (Unfortunately, we’re still working on getting a spaceship landing pad set up).

The Lab is partially accessible! Visitors can use our freight elevator and our accessible restroom, equipped with support handlebars and light weight doors. We also have wide hallways and doorways. If you’d like to discuss specific accommodations, please reach out to us before booking.

Typical studio hours are 6:00 am to 11:00 pm. Overtime rates may apply if you need to shoot beyond these hours.

While we’re a team of creators ourselves, we do not offer production services to our clients currently. We can assist you with finding awesome crew members, and can be a great resource for your production, no less!

AstroLab is proudly located in Toronto’s vibrant Leslieville Community, home to tons of artisanal shops, artsy stores and more!

Giving back to the film community is also very important to us. Since we opened our doors, we’ve partnered with POV film, a Toronto organization that provides opportunities to talented BIPOC creators who face social barriers when breaking into the TV & film industry. We’ve also collaborated with FOFS, Reelworld Film Festival, FOFS, and Images Festival, among others, to provide studio space for up-and-coming creators.

Nope! We’re a small local business, owned by Beach resident Adam Weitner. We have just two full-time employees (Adam and Studio Manager Jesse), and a few awesome part-time studio staff!

Despite popular belief, AstroLab technically doesn’t launch spaceships— but it’s on our bucket list!
