When we set out to design a colour correction offering to suit the needs and budgets of today’s creators, we definitely weren’t looking to compete with Toronto’s already established post-houses (looking for a solid post house reco? Check out Redlab Digital). What we wanted to create was something that was affordable, while still offering the processing power and tools most creators wouldn’t likely already have at home.

To do that, we had to find equipment that was high-end, yet (somewhat) reasonably priced. Our initial order consisted of: a maxed out HP z640 Workstation (3.7 GHz Xeon E5-1630v4 4Core, 32GB DDR4-2400), an Eizo ColorEdge CG248-4K colour correction monitor, a Blackmagic Design UltraStudio 4K Extreme and a Blackmagic Design SmartScope Duo 4K. Note the absence of a controller (they can run up to $40,000 for a good one!).

That’s why we were really excited when the new Blackmagic Design DaVinci Resolve Micro control panel was announced. We called our friends over at Vistek to place one on pre-order right away. Luckily for us, not even a week later they got a small shipment (only two units) and since they love us (right, guys?!) they hooked us up: one of the first in Canada to have one in our hands (see Adam’s excitement below).

It has now been client-tested (thanks, Cody Marcotte!), and is running smooth as butter.

Here’s what the pros are saying about it:
